A W&M shield back adjustable height candle stand in curled maple, ca 1720-1740. Lillian Cogan Antiquary of Farmington, Ct. owned the original made of maple - painted red. I added the rosette to my replicas. I've made several in different woods - white oak, curled maple and walnut. I often used old wood for the shields on the white oak stands that made them look 'period', beginning in mid 1980's.
