Shaping and carving the thumbnail on the top of the arch moulding

After shaping and planeing with a compass plane the top radius, I again use the marking gauge to score a 1/2" line to begin shaping the thumbnail. I'll pencil in a stop line on the top edge 3/8" down and use a drawknife to closely shape the radius - center picture. Now I will use a 1/2" wide paring chisel to form the shoulder and finish the radius with a spokeshave. Done. Next >
