Tall Post Bed

Tall Post Bed

A twin size cherry 'pencil post bed' with a double arch headboard, beaded rails and roped. All the beds I've made are bored, roped and bolted, with a flat platform for a mattress, and of the many beds I've made only only a few were fitted for a box spring. The Chippendale period bed rails are not bored for rope but instead have either turned small knobs applied on the inner shoulder joynt of the rail for rope, or just a platform set into the shoulder. All of my rail stock is 3" thick x 4" tall, roughly, and never glued up stock. 1992. The Henry Crane House in Litchfield County, Ct.
