Improvements: The original arched section of the door that includes the heart, at the Yale Art Gallery, is one board in width. The heart and muntins are carved out of that one board! Needless to say it has a few breaks that are now reinforced with iron strapping. I altered the construction: I sawed out and carved the heart, and vertical muntin above it out of one piece of wood and moulded the angled muntins to be tenoned into the heart and into the curved arch frame, strengthening it considerably. The bottom width of the heart has a tenon let into the top horizontal muntin. See " Creative Process - Shell Cupboard Door.
