Sawing the boards for the barrel back

The boards are about 14" wide and will be planed to a finished thickness of 5/16". I precut 3" in on both sides with the table saw first so I'm only cutting 8" with the hand saw. I use a coarse 5 point rip saw (5 teeth to the inch) to saw the 1" thick boards in half. I switch sawing sides after several inches down to keep a straight line. I cut half way down then turn the board over to saw from the opposite end. It takes about 20 minutes to saw each board. It's not difficult, I've been hand sawing for five decades. >
